Day 1
Airport pickup at Kilimanjaro International, transfer to your Moshi hotel, gear check and full trek briefing.
Day 2
Drive to the western gate, then a gentle rainforest walk to Big Tree Camp (2,780m).
Day 3
Leave the forest for open moorland and cross onto the Shira Plateau (3,610m) with first Kibo views.
Day 4
Acclimatisation walk across the plateau to Moir Hut (4,200m) with an optional afternoon climb of Lent Hills.
Day 5
High traverse to Lava Tower (4,630m), then descend to Barranco Camp (3,900m) — climb high, sleep low.
Day 6
Scramble the Barranco Wall in the morning and reach Karanga Camp (3,995m) for an easy afternoon.
Day 7
Move to Barafu (4,673m), rest, then a midnight start to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak (5,895m) for sunrise; descend to Millennium Camp.
Day 8
Final descent through the forest to Mweka Gate, summit certificates, transfer to Moshi hotel and hot shower.
Around 98.5% of our climbers reach Uhuru Peak on this itinerary. The extra days on the Shira Plateau give your body time to acclimatise before summit night.
Park and rescue fees, camping equipment, all meals on the mountain, professional guides, cook and fairly-paid porters, emergency oxygen and a pulse oximeter, plus airport transfers and two nights in a Moshi hotel.
No. Lemosho is a walking route — good general fitness and a few months of hill walking or cardio training are enough.
January to mid-March and June to October are the driest months, but we run departures year-round from Moshi.
