Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Nairobi to Naro Moru

    Road transfer, briefing and overnight at the base of the mountain.

  2. Day 2

    Naro Moru to Met Station

    Forest and bamboo zone walk to Met Station (3,050m).

  3. Day 3

    Met Station to Mackinder's Camp

    Cross the Vertical Bog onto the moorland and reach Mackinder's (4,200m).

  4. Day 4

    Acclimatisation at Mackinder's

    Day walk toward Two Tarns with views of Batian and Nelion.

  5. Day 5

    Point Lenana summit

    Pre-dawn climb to Point Lenana (4,985m) for sunrise, then descend to Shipton's/Old Moses.

  6. Day 6

    Descent and return

    Walk out through Sirimon and transfer back to Nairobi.

Which peak do we summit?

Point Lenana at 4,985m — the trekking summit, reached at sunrise. Batian and Nelion are technical climbs and are not part of this trip.

Is this a good warm-up for Kilimanjaro?

Yes. Many climbers do Mount Kenya first, then Kilimanjaro a week later with excellent acclimatisation.

Where does the trip start?

We start at Sirimon gate and traverse to Chogoria; transfers from Nairobi or Nanyuki are arranged for you.
